The American Express Gold Rewards card is a popular pick for Canadians and has a number of advantages.

To start with, the Aeroplan sign-up bonus for this credit card is 25000 points after you convert your Amex Membership Rewards points. To qualify for the bonus, you must have a minimum spend of $1500 in the first 3 months of card membership. There is an annual fee of $150, but there is no minimum income threshold to apply.

The card gives you 2 points for every $1 spent on travel and travel-related purchases. This includes flights, hotels, cruises, car rentals, and more, making this a great card for both travel redemption as well as travel earning.
